Indian-Style Temple in Tokyo's City Center - Tsukiji Honganji
Today was my first visit to Tsukiji, and I stumbled upon a temple that looked very Southeast Asian from a distance. ππΈ It has a large footprint, and under the evening lights, it looked quite atmospheric. It was just after 6 p.m., but the temple was already deserted, and the surroundings were very quiet. ππΈ As soon as I entered through the side door, I saw a statue of an ancient monk, which added a sense of mystery. The temple was originally built by reclaiming land from the sea, and it has been rebuilt after natural disasters. ππΈ The current structure is nearly 90 years old and was designed by a Japanese architect who combined Indian and Asian temple styles, which explains its exotic charm. π The temple also offers a unique breakfast set for about 100 RMB, which you need to book through the temple's app. ππΈ Even with a reservation, you still have to queue because it's very popular. ^_^ Tsukiji used to be a seafood market, so there are many sushi restaurants here, and most of them have lines, so they must be of high quality. π£ ππΈ Near the temple, I saw an elderly person sitting quietly with a bowl in front, reminiscent of ancient monks collecting alms. It was my first time seeing such a scene in real life. ^_^ #JapanTravel #Temples #HiddenGems #Tokyo #JapaneseLife #JapaneseArchitecture #JapaneseFoodie #JapaneseSushi π
