Innsbruck 3-Day Family Trip Diary (Part 2) 🚞🌿

Day 2: Alpine Playground & Mountain Carts! 🚍 The Great Transport Hunt Our morning started with a slight adventure—the direct 9:16 AM bus from downtown to Mutterer Almbahn mysteriously vanished from schedules! Instead, we: Took a city bus (free with Welcome Card Plus) to the train station. Hopped on STB train at 10:04 AM → arrived at Mutters Nockhofweg by 10:28 AM. (Note: The scenic little train ride through flower-dotted valleys was a hit!) 🚠 Mutterer Alm Cable Car (Included in Welcome Card!) 15-minute ride up with jaw-dropping views. Pro tip: Right-hand seats for best panoramas! Saw cyclists hauling bikes up—apparently this is a legendary downhill biking route 🚵♂️. 🏞️ Alpine Playground & Hidden Gems Follow the "Panoramasee" signs → gentle uphill walk to a crystal-blue mountain lake. Wooden Ball Gachapon! Spent €2 on a wooden ball from a trailside machine—rolled it down special tracks like a mini ski jump (kids obsessed). Adventure Playground Slides, swings, and a timber obstacle course. Our 👧🏻 played here for 1.5 hours straight while we sipped Almwasser (herb lemonade). 🚗 Mountain Cart Descent! (€15/cart) First 5 minutes: "WHY ARE WE GOING SO SLOW?!" (white-knuckling the brakes). Next 10 minutes: "WEEEEEE!" (flying down hairpin turns like junior Formula 1 drivers). Final verdict: Even more fun than Nordkette according to our kid! ⏰ Bus Warning: Return shuttles run only every 30 minutes (14:31, 15:01, etc.). Miss one and you’ll be very familiar with that hillside bench. Why This Day Won ✅ Kid-Friendly Hiking: Gentle trails with playful pitstops. ✅ Thrills for All Ages: Mountain carts > cable cars for giggles-per-euro. ✅ Welcome Card Perk: Saved €60+ on transport/attractions. 🍽️ Lunch Spot: Gasthof Riesen near the cable car—giant schnitzels and homemade elderflower syrup! #Innsbruck #FamilyTravel #AustriaWithKids #AlpineAdventures
