Italian Summer Holiday in Taranto - Beach & City Stroll

In August, all of Italy is on vacation, and a trip to a coastal city is a must for a complete Ferragosto holiday. This short getaway (3 days, 2 nights) led us to a hidden gem of a beach with water rivaling Sardinia. Besides swimming, strolling through the city was equally delightful. Let’s dive in! 👇 📍 Taranto - Located in the coastal region of Puglia, Italy. You can arrive by plane or train. We drove from Rome for 5 hours, passing through landscapes reminiscent of Tuscany, but with plains dotted with wind turbines—a unique sight to rest your eyes on. 🏘️ Accommodation: As always, we chose a B&B for its pet-friendly policy. This time, we stayed at "Sun & Wine B&B" (searchable on Booking). It’s not in the city center but midway between downtown and the beach. Right across from the B&B is a beach with breathtaking sunsets. In the evenings, a seafood fry stall pops up nearby—packed with locals—offering fresh fried seafood for €10 per generous portion. The hosts clean the room daily, and the fridge is stocked with water, sparkling wine, and fruit. Breakfast is hearty, with options like croissants (you choose the flavor!), seasonal fruit, juice, yogurt, ham, and cheese. For dinner, you can ask the hosts to prepare a meal—seafood, meat, or other options. The hostess cooks everything herself, tailoring it to your tastes and dietary restrictions. We enjoyed a seafood feast—5 dishes (4 seafood), plus a bottle of sparkling wine, water, and a Coke—all for just €60! 😆 Fresh and delicious. 🏖️ Beaches: Based on the hosts’ recommendations, we visited these spots with powdery white sand, crystal-clear water, and that dreamy "jellyfish sea" effect (though watch out for small jellyfish—keep your distance if you spot any!). Check out: ● Spiaggia di Montedarena ● Marina di Pulsano ● Spiaggia Lido Silvana 🏛️ City Exploration: After the beach, wander the old town’s streets, where the traces of Southern Italy’s history come alive. A sunset stroll along the seaside promenade is pure bliss! ‼️ Pro tip: Puglia is famous for its seafood—don’t miss it! If you have extra time, extend your trip to: Matera (filming location for 007) Alberobello Gallipoli (south of Taranto) I’ve been to all of them—highly recommended! #Beach #SeasideVacation #ItalyTravel #ItalianBeaches #HiddenGemsInItaly #RomanticLifeChronicles 🌊🇮🇹
