🌄 Izu | Exploring Ōshima Yama 🍵🍮!

Tokyo ➡️ Ōshima Yama ➡️ Jōgasaki Coast ➡️ Atagawa One-Day Guide 🌧️ May 1st, I arrived in Tokyo with heavy rain dampening half my spirits, but May 2nd brought absolutely perfect weather! 1️⃣ At 9 AM, we took the Odoriko train from Tokyo Station ➡️ Izu Plateau Station, arriving at 11 AM. After arriving at Tokyo Station, look for platform 9 for the Tōkaidō Line towards Ito and Atami. It's recommended to arrive a bit early, as missing a train means at least a 30-minute wait. 2️⃣ Upon arrival at Izu Plateau Station, purchase the Izu One-Day Tourist Ticket to head to Ōshima Yama, costing 900 yen per person. During Golden Week, there are additional buses, but normally, you should check the timetable. It takes about 20 minutes to reach Ōshima Yama. 3️⃣ While waiting in line at Ōshima Yama, everyone must, must, must look towards Mount Fuji (to your right side facing the ticket counter🫱). You might catch a glimpse of Mount Fuji without even trying. We waited in line for 1 hour and had about 15 minutes where Mount Fuji was clearly visible. 4️⃣ It takes about 1.5 hours to explore Ōshima Yama. There are mochi balls 🍡 on the mountain, symbolizing good fortune, happiness, and wealth, costing 300 yen each. They make for great photos. 5️⃣ After descending, refer back to photo for the bus guide. For Jōgasaki Coast, follow the line towards Izu Marine Park (I personally think Izu Marine Park is more beautiful than Jōgasaki Coast). Since we had a long wait, four of us from the queue shared a taxi to Jōgasaki Coast for 2400 yen. Note that Uber was not available; if you want a taxi, rush to the spot where people get off as soon as they do. 6️⃣ After playing at Jōgasaki Coast, make sure to check if your next stop is 【Ito Station】 or 【Izu Plateau Station】, as the buses go in completely opposite directions. We made a mistake and it took almost an hour to get back to Izu Plateau Station. 7️⃣ We stayed at Atagawa Hotel, which is just three stops from Izu Plateau Station to Izu Atagawa Station. There's a hotel shuttle to pick you up at the station. It was great! The hotel's onsen was also nice, and we could see the sea and sunrise. Izu is wonderful!
