🌄 Izu Ōshima Yama 🌄
Located on the Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka, Japan, Izu is famous for its abundant natural scenery, hot springs, sea views, and mountains. It's also the setting for Kawabata Yasunari's famous novel "The Izu Dancer" and the anime "Your Name". With all the rave reviews about Izu Peninsula travel online, I'm here today to experience it for myself and see if it lives up to the hype of the travel bloggers. 🦌 My planned route for this trip (1 day, 1 night essence tour): Tokyo - Ito (stay) - Ichikiku Lake - Ōshima Yama - Cactus Zoo - Marine Park - Tokyo 🚌 Let's start with transportation: From Tokyo or Ueno, take the train to Atami Station, which takes about 1 hour and 50 minutes, then transfer to the Izu Kyuko Line for 25 minutes to Ito Station. The Izu Kyuko Line connects major spots like Atami, Izu Plateau, East Izu, Shimoda, Kawazu, and Shimoda, so you can get off and stay at the stations you wish to visit. ✍️ Real feelings about the attractions: 1️⃣ Ōshima Yama, ticket price 50 rmb, I thought it was just a pit before going, but after going, I found out it's a real "pit"! The natural volcanic crater forms a cute earthen pit package. Hiking 1km around the pit, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Izu Peninsula. It's accessible by a small cable car, with beautiful scenery, suitable for all ages. 2️⃣ Cactus Zoo, you can pet capybaras 😂 and there are all kinds of peculiarly shaped cacti, great for families with kids~Ticket price is about 200 rmb 3️⃣ Marine Park lighthouse suspension bridge, a seaside spot for a stroll and hand-holding, feeling the place of eternal promises, but there are quite a few mosquitoes, so spray some mosquito repellent! 【Practical tips】 🍽️ Food and Accommodation When in Izu, be sure to taste the specialty: Golden Snapper~For accommodation, it's recommended to choose a Japanese-style hotel with a sea view. The local hot springs are also exceptional, and most hotels provide baths to enjoy. 🌈 Best Travel Season The Izu Peninsula is suitable for travel all year round, but spring (Kawazu cherry blossom viewing) and autumn (maple viewing) are especially popular. Ps: Kawazu is where the cherry blossoms bloom earliest on Honshu Island. 【Friendly Reminders】 1️⃣ After 4 PM, basically, public transportation stops, and by 9 PM, restaurants are closed too, so in Izu, it's about living a simple life that starts at sunrise and rests at sunset. 2️⃣ Plan your trip well, as some places only have a bus every hour. Before coming, make sure to connect the attractions well, take the right path, and most importantly, don't miss the last bus! 3️⃣ For public transportation, it's recommended to buy the Izu 2-day pass, which can save you a lot of money. 4️⃣ If possible, stay overnight instead of making a day trip, otherwise, you'll miss the most beautiful evening time. 5️⃣ Those short on time can follow my route, and those with more time can slow down and experience the "Three Views of Izu". Shimoda City Nezashi Mountain: Accessible by cable car Nanizu Town Irozaki: The southernmost white lighthouse of the peninsula Nishiizu Town Tenjo Cave: A sea cave formed by tuff Ps: If you don't understand Japanese bus signs, I'll make a guide on Japanese bus signs in the next issue, so remember to follow and mark ♨️ #JapanFreeTravel #JapanTravelGuide #IzuTravel #ŌshimaYama #OffTheBeatenPathTravel #WhereToGoForMidAutumn
