🌸 Izu One-Day Tour 🌸

I'm sharing a detailed timetable based on my personal experience for a one-day trip. Departing at 11 AM from Tokyo Station, you can visit Ōshima Yama and Jōgasaki Coast without having to wake up early. You can even head straight to Kyoto in the evening. Of course, if you're returning to Tokyo or staying overnight, you won't have to rush like I did. The specific timetable is on page 2. Explanation of the timetable: 1️⃣ We took the luxurious Sapphire Odori train, in a private six-person compartment. If you have the budget, it's highly recommended. Buy bento boxes at Tokyo Station and enjoy the sea view in your compartment. Compartment tickets must be purchased in person in advance, while other carriages can be booked online. Alternatively, you can take the regular Odori train, which has earlier departures. 2️⃣ Remember to buy a bus one-day pass when you arrive at Izu Plateau Station. You can ride any bus in Izu, saving you some money. Make sure to press the bell before your stop, or the bus won't stop. A Chinese tourist on our bus missed two stops. 3️⃣ For Jōgasaki Coast, start hiking from Izu Marine Park Station. There are two routes, and I suggest taking the longer one. The signs will indicate the time required for both routes. Without taking photos, a round trip takes over an hour. 4️⃣ The cable car ticket for Ōshima Yama offers a discount with the bus one-day pass. Once at the summit, buy dango first—they might sell out. Then, visit the sign for the popular camping spot. A walk around takes about 20 minutes, and on a clear day, you can see Mount Fuji. The cable car operates a bit later than the official time, and the last bus back to Izu Plateau Station is at 17:30. 5️⃣ Izu Plateau Beer is excellent, and I recommend the golden snapper and sashimi donburi. 6️⃣ From Izu to Atami, take the Izu Kyuko Line, which automatically transfers to the JR line at Izu. Some trains may end at Ito and require a transfer to the JR line. In such cases, the transfer time is short. If you're using a pass or have pre-purchased a Shinkansen ticket, you'll need to forgo the extra payment for the covered section from Ito to Atami, as they only cover JR, not the Izu Kyuko Line. Exiting and re-entering the station would make you miss the train. Even if you're going directly to Atami, you'll need to show your ticket and pass or Shinkansen ticket to the station staff at Atami Station. However, if you're in a hurry to catch the next Shinkansen, it might not be feasible. Therefore, it's suggested to buy a ticket from Izu Plateau Station to Atami, exit quickly at Atami, and then use your pre-purchased Shinkansen ticket or pass to enter the station. Although it costs a bit more, you won't miss your train, essentially forgoing the JR or pass-covered section from Atami to Ito that comes with the Shinkansen. 7️⃣ The Nozomi Shinkansen is faster than the Kodama Shinkansen. Atami is a small station without Nozomi service, so it's recommended to transfer at Nagoya to take the Nozomi to save time. #Izu #IzuTravel #ŌshimaYama #JōgasakiCoast #TokyoDayTrip #IzuOneDayTour #Japan #JapaneseTravel #JapaneseTravelGuide #SapphireOdori
