Key West Speedrun Day Trip
We decided on a day trip instead of staying overnight in Key West. After waking up super early, I dozed off in the passenger seat π€, only to be woken by my travel buddy when we arrived at Robbie's of Islamorada Still half-asleep, we started by feeding the giant tarpons ππΈ β $5 for a small bucket with just 5β6 fish, but it was totally worth the fun! The tarpons were huge and lively. After that, we grabbed drinks at their waterside bar πΉβ¨. Their signature Bloody Mary wasβ¦ an experience (not in a good way π ). It came loaded with shrimp, bacon, and all kinds of toppings β my friend made a "pain face" after trying it π₯π¦. But their other cocktails were delicious! We actually stopped by again on our way back π₯. Second stop: 5 Brothers Two We tried the stone crab claws here β the jumbo size was as big as my palm! At around $30+ per pound, it was decently priced. The claws were served very chilled, so if youβre not in a rush, let them sit a bit before digging in βοΈπ. Key West β First Target: DJ's Clam Shack We split tasks: I lined up for the famous lobster roll, while my friend queued at the mojito stand next door π§. We ordered one overstuffed lobster roll and two clam chowders. The lobster roll was huge, packed with cool, fresh lobster meat on buttery toasted bread β so satisfying! But the clam chowder completely stole the show β rich, creamy, and warming. Since it was under 20Β°C that day, that soup hit the spot perfectly! Also highly recommend the lemongrass mojito from next door β refreshing with a unique twist Hemingway Home & Museum π±π After eating, we headed to the Hemingway House. SO. MANY. CATS. π»π Some were napping in the weirdest corners, probably tired of being adored by visitors π. The whole tour took us less than an hour, but it was purrfectly charming! A fun, flavorful, and slightly furry day in Key West β would totally do it again! Have you done a Key West day trip? What's your must-stop spot? #US #Florida #Jacksonville #Key West
