Kinjiro | Is this the ultimate Japanese cuisine in Los Angeles?

Let's see what the experts think! I came here after seeing the title on Xiaohongshu and ordered a set meal haha. As soon as I arrived, I could tell what the next table ordered just by glancing over—another blogger recommendation! I booked two weeks in advance, and the restaurant is super small with less than ten tables. The service is verrrry slow, but that's part of the experience. Each dish comes with a new set of plates for everyone, and they clear the table completely before bringing the next course. I guess that's how they can control the reservation times so precisely. I'd say the average person orders about three dishes, but honestly, only a few are truly amazing. I think it's better for 2-3 people to come together. (The menu is at the end.) **Recommendations:** - Uni Risotto (Sea Urchin Rice) - Shared Uni (Grilled Sea Urchin) - Thick-cut Beef Tongue with Yuzu Kosho - Raw Hamahama Oysters in Ponzu - Truffles & Organic Mushrooms Creamy Udon 👍 The uni is so fragrant, and grilling it makes it even more delicious. The beef tongue is incredibly tender and perfectly cooked—quite impressive! The oysters are huge and have zero fishy taste. The sauce is rare, with a hint of sweetness at the end. **Average Dishes:** - Free-range Duck Breast with Kanzuri (Just okay, but not bad. The duck isn't fully cooked and gets a bit chewy towards the end.) - Spanish Octopus with Japanese Peppercorn Aioli (👌 Nothing special, but not bad either. You can order it or skip it.) **Desserts:** I tried all four, and the Roasted Green Tea Panna Cotta was the best! It has a rich, creamy soy milk flavor, and the texture of the custard is super smooth. The sake kasu had a bit of an alcoholic taste, which I personally didn't like. The black sesame and red bean matcha were fine—nothing extraordinary, but not too sweet and quite nice. 💰 **Price:** $100+ per person, including service (no need for tips). 📍 **Location:** In Little Tokyo, super convenient! The service is top-notch, no complaints there. Overall, it's definitely worth a visit, but whether it's the "ceiling" of Japanese cuisine in LA is still up for debate. #LosAngeles #Foodie #RestaurantReview #LittleTokyo #DTLA #Seafood #HiddenGems #JapaneseCuisine #RestaurantRecommendation
