Yufuin, also known as Yufu Onsen, is located in the central part of Oita Prefecture on the main island of Kyushu, Japan. Its name is derived from Mount Yufu, which stands at an elevation of 1583 meters and translates to "the foothills of Yufuin." Apart from its famous hot springs, Yufuin is also the inspiration behind Hayao Miyazaki's Totoro, earning the town the nickname "Totoro Town." 🚉 Emerging from Yufuin Station, you'll find yourself on "Yufu-Minami-dori," with Mount Yufu greeting you right away. The first floor exhibition hall features works by Yayoi Kusama, while the second floor hosts sculptures by Yoshitomo Nara.
