đ Korean Cuisine I've Visited Four Times and Still Recommend
Hojokban in Manhattan, New York, is truly a favorite of my husband and me. Weâve been back four times and keep recommending it to our friends. The restaurant is small, previously known as Palpal, and retains some of its original layout. Thereâs a small section of transparent glass in the middle where you can see the bustling kitchen. Usually, there are three large iron pots sizzling away, creating a very atmospheric experience. Letâs talk about the dishes: ⨠Black Truffle Potato Pancake - The exterior is perfectly crispy, and the truffle aroma is just right. Itâs not greasy at all. ⨠Honey Chicken - The seasoning is fantastic. ⨠Perilla Oil Noodles - The noodles are very chewy, and the cold texture pairs perfectly with the refreshing perilla oil. Itâs very refreshingâif you like perilla oil, donât miss this dish! For the main courses: ⨠Our must-order dish is their braised beef short ribs (Galbi). The beef is so tender that it falls off the bone with just a gentle nudge from your chopsticks. The portion is generous, and the plating is exquisite. Just looking at it makes you hungry. ⨠Weâve also tried their Korean-style pork belly (Bossam), which is decent but not as impressive. The taste is average. ⨠Another standout is their RosĂŠ Dak Galbi. The chicken is incredibly tender, with a moderate level of spiciness and a creamy flavor that adds depth. Recently, theyâve collaborated with Nongshim Ramen for a limited-time offer. If you order their rice balls (Arancini), you can take home a free special-flavored Nongshim ramen and a co-branded tote bag! If youâre into collecting merchandise, this is a great opportunity. đ° Average cost per person: $50-60 #food #NYCFood #NYCExploration #RestaurantRecommendation #NYCKoreanCuisine #FusionCreativeDishes #NYCEating
