LA|Challenge Accepted: 7+25 Courses at Morihiro 🌟🍣
Only managed to book one spot during my quick LA trip, but the online reviews were spot-on — and as a sushi rice lover, I was beyond satisfied! 🍶 Appetizers & Small Plates: 1. Tofu ✨✨ Elegant soy aroma, silky texture. 2. Hassun (Assorted Appetizers) Loved the bamboo shoot and taro; firefly squid was tender~ 3. Sea Bream White Milt ✨✨ Incredibly smooth and creamy, topped with dashi — ultra-fresh, loved it! 4. Crab Leg: Firm meat, but flavor was average — Costco level 🦀 5. Lobster ✨ The lobster ball was bouncy and pure (no starch!). The broth was mind-blowing — all the essence of fish bone and shrimp shell condensed into one clear, rich sip. 6. Minced Otoro with pine nuts and onion — rich texture. Topped with black truffle, making it bold and slightly American-Japanese fusion. 7. Spring Sprout Tempura: Batter a bit thick, but the sprouts were tender, crisp, and slightly bitter — very spring-like! 8. Abalone Tempura ✨✨ With bold, fragrant mullet roe and a slight fermented note. The abalone had a QQ candy-like chew! 🍣 Sushi Section: The rice was plump and firm, with a sharp vinegar kick — loved it! The style focuses on harmony between fish and rice. 1. Flounder ✨ Tender, bouncy, and moist with light seasoning. 2. Needlefish ✨ Another bouncy, fresh piece. 3. Baby Yellowtail ✨✨ A favorite! Fresh, delicate, and smooth. 4. Striped Jack x2 ✨✨ Jelly-like texture — adored it! 5. Lean Tuna ✨ Like a ruby — my favorite cut. Silky and refined. 6. Otoro x2 ✨✨✨ Rich, fatty, melts in your mouth — explosive umami! 7. Kohada ✨ Slightly sour with a hint of sweet, perfect moisture. 8. Spot Prawn: Crispy, chewy, and bouncy. 9. Horse Mackerel x3 ✨✨✨ So plump and gorgeous — I added extra! 10. Squid: Sticky, chewy, with a bit of crunch. The wasabi kick was real! 11. Mirugai ✨ Crunchy, bouncy, and sweet. 12. Red Clam: Even richer ocean flavor — one side crisp, one side soft. 13. Grouper x2 ✨ Grilled for extra aroma. 14. Golden Eye Snapper x2 ✨ Crispy skin, jelly-like texture, super moist. 15. Salmon Roe x2 ✨ Bursting like ocean pearls — umami explosion! 16. Uni ✨✨ Smooth as ice cream, surprisingly sweet. 17. Tamago x2 ✨✨✨ Fluffy like soufflé — moist, soft, and dreamy. I wanted more! 🍧 Desserts: 1. Honeydew Melon: Soft, juicy, and sweet. 2. Strawberry Daifuku ✨✨ The best strawberry I’ve had in a year — so exciting I stole my friend’s piece 😂 Matcha was just okay. 3. Brown Sugar Coffee Pudding: Petite and not too sweet.
