La Jacobine: A Bustling Little Bistro in Paris 🍽️✨

La Jacobine is a restaurant we stumbled upon while navigating the streets of Paris. Outside, there’s a row of chairs for waiting guests. We struck up a conversation with a couple from Normandy who had taken the train to Paris just for food adventures. At exactly 12 PM, the doors opened, and I noticed the line behind us stretched almost to the street. We quickly grabbed a seat by the window, and with glasses of cool, free tap water, we warmed up in no time. And just like that, a classic Parisian meal began. 🐌 Escargots, Foie Gras, Onion Soup, Almond Duck Leg This place is a quintessential lively Parisian bistro—small tables, a bit crowded, but with only two chefs and two servers. Despite the hustle, the service is efficient, and the staff’s smiles and graceful demeanor add to the charm. Dishes arrive promptly, empty plates are cleared, and they check if you need more water or bread. The interaction is comfortable and relaxed. The foie gras is beautifully plated, and each layer melts in your mouth with a rich, sweet flavor and a subtle, pleasant aroma. The star of the meal is the duck leg—tender, crispy, and fragrant, topped with almond slices and served with a bed of small potatoes, assorted mushrooms, and delicate French green beans. Compared to the drier confit duck, this one is much more flavorful. The meat is fall-off-the-bone tender, and the sauce has a sweet-salty balance that’s absolutely delicious. The escargots 🐌 are worth trying since you’re here. The snails are quite large, and the flavor is decent. For the other main course, we ordered the braised lamb leg with white rice 🍚🥩. The lamb is tender and not gamey, with no overpowering sweetness. If you’re not a fan of sweet flavors, this is a great choice. By the time we finished, we quickly paid the bill to make room for the next wave of diners. The restroom is a tiny, steep spiral staircase leading to a compact but clean and functional space—like a mini bomb shelter. Only one person can go down at a time! #FrenchCuisine #FrenchRomance #ParisFood #EiffelTowerEats #ArcDeTriompheEats #Paris #ParisFoodie #HiddenGemRestaurant #ParisTravel #EuropeTravel
