LA Star-Dining Diary | Morihiro đ A Disappointing Experience đŁ
Since this one-Michelin-star Japanese restaurant has pretty average reviews online, I didnât have high expectations to begin with. But after the meal, I ended up feeling even more let down. đ€ For a Michelin-starred omakase priced at 250/400 per person (the photos are from the $250 menu), youâd expect much moreâbut surprisingly, all the fish-based dishes tasted bland, and the ingredients felt very ordinary. Kanpachi, kinmedai, bluefin tunaâeven the uni was underwhelming. The fish and shrimp lacked shine and didnât look appetizing at all. đđŠ On the brighter side, the cold starters and simmered dishes were slightly better. The first courseâtofuâwas rich and delicious, definitely worth praising! The eggplant tempura with a dashi-based sauce was also a pleasant surprise! And the tamagoyaki at the end had a soufflĂ©-like, cake-like textureâmoist, soft, and easily in my top 3 tamagoyaki experiences! For dessert, the melon was sweet, and the coffee pudding, though small, was tasty. Overall, this is a Japanese restaurant I wonât be returning to. And honestly, Iâm still puzzled how it has held a Michelin star for so many years⊠(Just my personal taste!) Have you been to Morihiro?
