Las Vegas Day Trip|Lake Mead National Recreation Area 🏞️
Life is all about learning through trial and error, and travel is about constantly trying new things! 🧳✨ We ventured beyond the bustling crowds of Las Vegas to explore the majestic landscapes of Lake Mead. 🌊 On short getaways from Vegas, I always love discovering nearby spots—after all, life needs a little freshness! Lake Mead is a fantastic choice. On our recent road trip back to Irvine from Utah, we made Lake Mead our final stop. 🚗💨 💖 What can you do at Lake Mead? What’s fun there? You can enjoy a scenic drive around the park, admire the stunning red sandstone formations, go boating on the lake, feed the seagulls, try fishing, or even camp under the stars! ⛺️🎣 💖 How to get to Lake Mead National Recreation Area? If you’re starting from Irvine, pass through Barstow and head toward Las Vegas. Take Highway 11 southeast, then switch to Route 564—you’ll reach Lake Mead in about half an hour! 🗺️ 💖 What’s the history and purpose of Lake Mead? Lake Mead is a reservoir formed by the Hoover Dam on the Colorado River in the southwestern United States. It’s the largest reservoir by volume in the U.S.! Created in 1935, it supplies water to parts of Arizona, California, and Nevada. 💧🏜️ Lake Mead is less crowded, making it perfect for a relaxed road trip. We drove around the red sandstone mountains bordering the lake for about two hours, with plenty of scenic overlooks for photos and short walks. The views of the lake against the red rocks are absolutely breathtaking! 📸❤️ At the Lake Mead Visitor Center, you can get four unique stamps: Tule Springs Fossil Bed, Lake Mead, Hoover Dam, and the Old Spanish Trail! 🕹️🗺️ Visitor Center Address: 📍10 Lake Shore Road, Boulder City, NV 89005 Have you visited Lake Mead?
