Lisbon | A museum with a curatorial approach similar to MoMA
"The bride is a sort of disguise, it's obviously a total failure of individuality, due to the masculine inability to exercise real responsibilities... " (Saint Phalle) This is my favorite exhibit in the museum, and you can spend a long time looking at the details. It's called La mariée, the bride, created during the second wave of the feminist movement. I did some online research, and found that the Pompidou Center also has a different piece from the same series. The quote above is from the official website of the Pompidou Center. The artist is Niki de Saint Phalle, best known for her large-scale sculpture series called the Nanas. The museum is the Museu Nacional de Arte Contemporânea (MNAC), the National Museum of Contemporary Art, located not in the very center of Lisbon, but in a very beautiful environment. I say it's similar to MoMA because its permanent exhibition, like MoMA's, is chronologically arranged from modern art to contemporary art. After visiting, you'll have a general understanding of the evolution of artistic movements and schools. Its surrealist exhibition is also a pleasant surprise. Although Belgium is a major surrealist art country, most of the works are by a few important names. This museum, however, broadened my horizons. Of course, Picasso is never absent. Most of the installations are to my personal taste, but there are also plenty of paintings in the museum~ #InterestEnergyStation #Museum #Lisbon #Portugal #Art #ContemporaryArt #ModernArt
