Los Angeles | A Brunch That’s as Beautiful as It Is Delicious

The Perfect Cure for a Bad Mood 🍈 Once again, I’m impressed by how refined and delicious LA brunch is. I found out that it’s supposedly a breakfast spot affiliated with a Michelin-starred restaurant. The presentation is indeed exquisite, and you can tell they’re putting thought into the variety of ingredients. You have to queue up to order and find your own seat; the line looks long but it’s manageable – about a 30-minute wait. The service isn’t super fast, but it’s quite leisurely to sit outside and enjoy a drink while waiting. 🍓 This was my first time having French toast made with sourdough. It looks ordinary, but it’s surprisingly delightful. Chewy and you can taste the slight fermentation of the wheat, which is unique to sourdough. Even though it’s thickly cut, the inside is tender and sweet after being soaked in the egg and milk mixture, with a crispy edge that’s great to chew on. Drizzled with maple syrup, it’s instantly soulful 🤤 The seasonal special is strawberry jam, which I assume is homemade, with a tangy fruit flavor complemented by sour cream. The texture is light. The jam adds some diversity to the flavors, but the French toast with maple syrup alone is already deliciously traditional. The maple syrup’s strong flavor actually overshadows the strawberry jam’s taste; I think it would be more stunning with a plain sourdough for a main course. 🍈 The cantaloupe with coconut milk and sago was a novel combination, though not breathtaking. It wins in presentation and is very photogenic. 🍠 I ordered a sweet potato waffle out of curiosity, but it didn’t have any sweet potato flavor at all. It was filled with a lot of pickles between the eggs and the waffle, which was a bit confusing. The ham and runny egg managed to save it. It’s one to avoid. The drinks – matcha and Americano – were decent. Sitting outdoors on a sunny weekend, chatting and eating pretty food, all my blues were swept away. I’ll definitely come back when I’m in a good mood. #LosAngeles #LosAngelesLife #LosAngelesFood #LosAngelesBrunch
