Love at First Sight in New York: Pilaf and Creamy Crepes ๐Ÿ˜

Our friends have been raving about this Central Asian/Uzbek supermarket with locations in Forest Hills and Brooklyn. ๐ŸŽข They even make the trek from Jersey City, crossing two rivers, just to stock up. Meanwhile, my partner and I have been frequenting our local Union Square farmers market, Eataly, and my all-time favorite supermarket, Wegmans. ๐Ÿƒ It took us a while, but we finally discovered that the Manhattan store everyone had been talking about for years had finally opened! As a big fan of Xinjiang cuisine, I couldn't wait to check it out. The location is super convenient: ๐Ÿ“ Tashkent Supermarket Halal Food, at 6th Ave/Waverly, right by the W4 subway station. The store is much smaller than the Queens location, and it was pretty crowded on the weekend, but the checkout lines moved quickly. ๐ŸŒŠ The deli bar offers a variety of stews, different types of flatbreads, baked and steamed buns, and fruit tarts. Even though we had eaten, we were tempted to try everything! ๐ŸŒธ The highlight is the pilaf at just $9.99 a pound! The portion of meat is very generous. ๐Ÿฅฉ The selection of various meats and smoked fish is also quite affordable. I'll definitely come back when my freezer has more space to stock up! #NewYork ๐Ÿ—ฝ๐ŸŒŸ
