Madrid's Hidden Gem: Jardin El Capricho
Jardin El Capricho is located to the east of Madrid, right next to Juan Carlos I Park. Often overlooked due to the latter's much larger size, this hidden gem adds a sense of intrigue and exclusivity, especially since it is only open on weekends and holidays. 🌿 Built between 1787 and 1839 by the Duke of Osuna, this garden was a gathering place for the Duke and Duchess, along with artists, intellectuals, and even matadors of the time. Though not very large, the garden is exquisitely designed, blending elements of English, French, and Italian styles. With its lush and diverse vegetation, winding paths, tranquil lakes, and beautiful sculptures scattered throughout, every step reveals a new and breathtaking view. 🌸 There's even a secret bunker in the park, constructed around 1937 and used as the headquarters for the Republican Army during the Civil War. Currently, visits to this bunker are only possible through special municipal guided tours that require advance booking. 🔍 #MadridHiddenGems #SecretGardens #HistoricParks #MadridTravel #LesserKnownSpots #CulturalOasis #GardensOfMadrid
