Madrid's Little Fresh Museum

The Museo Sorolla, located in Madrid, Spain, was once the residence and studio of the Spanish painter Joaquín Sorolla. After the painter's death, his wife donated their former home to the Spanish government in memory of her beloved and turned it into a museum. The museum consists of a garden, living room, dining room, study, and studio, preserving the original appearance of the painter's former residence. It mainly displays Sorolla's paintings, covering different stages of his painting career. This includes his nine masterpieces represented by "The Bath of the Horses" and "Stroll on the Beach," as well as sculptures, porcelain, jewelry, old photographs, and letters he collected. The luxurious decoration inside and the unique architectural style, along with the Andalusian-style garden outside, were all personally designed by the painter himself. Today, it is also one of the best-preserved artist museums in Europe. Sorolla is one of the most important Impressionist painters in Spain, with a lifetime output of over 2000 works, and is known as the famous painter of light in Spain. He loved to capture the changes of light and shadow and was passionate about depicting the local customs and human conditions of the Mediterranean region. In his paintings, the Mediterranean sea breeze, waves, and people are all tinged with the color of light, and the high saturation of the canvas is filled with the warmth and liveliness of the Mediterranean scenery and characters. 💶 Admission: 3 euros, free for children or those with a youth card, free on Saturday afternoons and Sundays. 🚍 Transportation: Buses 5, 7, 14, 16, 27, 40, 45, 61, 147, and 150 Subway stations Iglesia (Line 1), Rubén Darío (Line 5), Gregorio Marañón (Line 7 or Line 10) ⏰️ Opening hours: Tuesday to Saturday: 9:30-20:00, Sunday and holidays: 10:00-15:00 🔒 Closing days: Mondays, January 1st, May 1st, December 24th, 25th, 31st #Spain #Madrid #MadridLife #Museum #HiddenGemMuseum
