Manchester Surroundings | Visit the Capybaras at the Zoo

Chester Zoo is located in the town of Chester and is said to be the largest zoo in the UK (it’s indeed quite large, allowing for a 3-4 hour visit), making it perfect for a date or a family outing. 🐨 🚇 Transportation: We took the train from Manchester to Chester. After exiting the station, we crossed the street and caught the X1 bus, which took us to the zoo in about 30 minutes. 🚌 🎫 Ticket Purchase: You can buy tickets on the official website for £37 each. Simply scan the code at the entrance to gain access to the zoo. 🎫 🐒 Inside the Zoo: The zoo is divided into four color-coded zones. Although it’s quite large, you can easily navigate by downloading the Chester Zoo app. Animal enclosures are just a short walk away. When we visited on a sunny day, the wind made it chilly, and many animals were not out (the animals here are quite laid-back, so be prepared to miss some). However, we were fortunate to see the capybaras! 🦛 🍔 Food and Drink: There’s a restaurant at the entrance serving fried chicken and burgers. The zoo also has many stalls selling drinks and ice cream, so you won’t go hungry. 🍔 🛍️ Souvenirs: A large souvenir shop at the entrance sells fridge magnets, plush toys, and jewelry featuring animals—all very cute! 🐻 ⏰ Closing Time: The zoo closes early at 4:30 pm. After your visit, you can explore Chester’s shopping village and Waitrose (a 10-minute walk from the station), which compensates for the lack of Waitrose in Manchester city center. The selection is great, including short ribs and more. 🛍️ #Manchester #Chester #ManchesterSurroundings #Animals
