🇷🇺 Mariinsky Theatre | Ticket Purchasing Guide and Suggestions 💃
The Mariinsky Theatre is one of the most famous theaters in St. Petersburg, not only a palace for 🇷🇺 Russian opera and ballet but also an important landmark in the history of world art. If you travel to Russia, the theatrical and ballet experiences at the theater are a must-see! 📍 Address Simply navigate to Мариинский театр, which is close to the Winter Palace and St. Isaac's Cathedral. 🎫 Tickets The price varies depending on the performance. It's recommended to book tickets directly on the official website mariinsky.ru to select your seats and pay. Avoid using third-party services as they may offer poor seats at higher prices. For popular performances like Swan Lake, the prices are slightly higher, around 500-800 RMB; for more mainstream performances like Don Quixote, the prices are more affordable, around 200-400 RMB. ⚠️ Ticket Purchase Notes: When selecting seats, the red circled areas in Figure 2 are considered the best and most cost-effective. Always choose the first row of each level; otherwise, you may be blocked by people in front of you. Taking Swan Lake as an example, suitable seats are in the 1st tier (6400P) or the balcony (4600P). The more expensive Dress Circle is 8000P, the cheapest upper level is 2800P, and the most expensive front row is 10000P. Seats closer to the center of the Tsar's box offer better views, but avoid the three seats closest to the Tsar's box on each level, as the view may be obstructed by the protruding decorations of the Tsar's box. As shown in Figure 3, the official website has different color markers for ticket selection. Green markers indicate the atmospheric Old Theatre, and yellow markers indicate the New Theatre. It is recommended to choose the Old Theatre marked with green. The schedule for the next month's performances is released on the 6th to 10th of each month. Be sure to check regularly, as good seats are very sought after. It is advised to choose only ballet performances and avoid musicals! If you don't understand Russian, the English subtitles are displayed in a small line above the stage, making it impossible to focus on both the subtitles and the stage performance, which can make it difficult to follow what the actors are saying and immerse yourself in the performance. ⭐️ Warm Tips: 1️⃣ It is recommended to arrive 30 minutes in advance to line up early, enter the theater, and take photos to remember the visit. 2️⃣ The performance may not start on time. I bought a ticket for a 19:00 show, but I arrived at the theater entrance at 19:10, and many people were still lining up to enter. The performance did not start until 19:20. 3️⃣ No photography is allowed during the performance, especially with large equipment like cameras. Feel free to take photos during the 15-minute intermission and at the end of the show. You can also take photos in various boxes. 4️⃣ It is recommended to dress formally, as Russians value the sense of ceremony. During the intermission, you will see many handsome men and beautiful women taking photos, all vying for attention. 5️⃣ The theater is crowded and hot, and I felt a bit warm even in short sleeves. It is advisable to wear less underneath, and you can check your thick coat after security at the entrance of the first floor. 6️⃣ There is a souvenir shop at the exit with moderately priced items, which you can buy as a memento. #NationalDayWorthwhileGuide #RussiaTravelTips #WhereToGoInRussia #StPetersburgTravelTips #MariinskyTheatre
