Max in Galena & Dubuquin
🧩 After leaving Wisconsin and driving for over three hours, we arrived at the small town of Galena in Illinois. This town is quite charming, and there weren't many people around when we visited. 🏠 Accommodation: Hotel Galena The hotel's facilities are a bit dated and completely non-soundproof, but the staff were very enthusiastic and recommended various places to take dogs. 🧩 Activities: ❣️ Main Street has many small shops, but many were closed when I visited. There was a root beer shop I really wanted to try, and there's also a very large pet supply store, New Earth Animals, on this street. ❣️ Grant Park, Galena River Trail, and Horseshoe Mound Preserve are highly recommended. From the heights here, you can see the entire town and the distant Mississippi River. Each trail is super short. 🧩 Leaving Galena and driving for just over twenty minutes, we arrived at the town of Dubuque in Iowa. This town is next to the Mississippi River. We took Max for a walk by the river and then went to ride what is said to be the shortest and steepest elevator in the world, which is actually a very short railway. It costs $4 round-trip to pay at the top of the hill, and Max was super brave, "scraping" his way up the ground by himself—I thought he would be scared. #Galena&Dubuque #MyTravelDiary #DogWalking #BestTravelPlan #Guide #RecommendedCheckIn #France
