Mediation in a Parisian Department Store? Le Bon Marché Exhibition

This weekend marks the closing of the “Le la serpent” exhibition at Le Bon Marché in Paris. Don’t miss your chance to meditate, feel, and even taste the experience in the final days! 🧘‍♀️🕊️ Since 2016, Le Bon Marché has revived the tradition of “Le mois du blanc” (The White Month) initiated by its founder, inviting international contemporary artists to create freely within the store. This year, Brazilian artist Ernesto Neto is the special guest. 🎨 ☯️ The artist reinterprets the three classic figures from the Bible: Adam, Eve, and the serpent. A gigantic white snake-shaped installation, 28 meters long and supported by 45 bamboo arches, weaves through the territory symbolizing Adam and Eve, transforming the store’s atrium into a space symbolizing the connection between yin and yang. 🐍 🐍 What if the serpent in the Garden of Eden was not a tempter but a nurturer of human existence? 🧘 On the second floor, the art space showcases the monumental installation “Avant que le temps qui n’apparaisse” (Before Time Appears) – a symbolic Tree of Life. The artist invites viewers to take off their shoes and sit on the soft ground to chat, meditate, and feel. 🌳 🕸️ The handcrafted knitted works, with the sound of bottle caps colliding on the tree trunk, seem to recreate the sound of the serpent’s presence. The spices like turmeric, clove, and ginger spread beneath the roots stimulate your sense of smell, while the artist’s specially created indigenous music allows for spontaneous drawings on the blackboards around the installation, much like early humans painting in caves – a beginning of culture, language, and imagery. The artist hopes to transport the audience to a spiritual world full of energy. 🎨 🍃 The serpent, beyond good and evil, represents life and nature, coexisting with humanity. In this commercial space, Ernesto Neto brings a serene and spiritual haven, inviting us to reconnect with nature. 🌿 📍 Exhibition Information Dates: January 11, 2025 - February 23, 2025 Price: Free #ArtExhibition #HandmadeKnitting #Serpent #Genesis #BibleStories #WhiteTheme #Immersive #Meditation #WeekendOuting #LeBonMarché
