Mediterranean Flavors at Esca

We celebrated our anniversary at Esca, a Mediterranean restaurant with some delightful surprises and a few letdowns. ✨ We started with two craft cocktails🍸—well-balanced and fruity, instantly awakening our palates! The appetizers were truly outstanding: cherry tomatoes on grilled toast🍅🍞 looked simple but burst with sweet juiciness in one bite! Another dish, flatbread with roasted grapes and burrata cheese🧀🍇, sounded unusual but surprised us—the warm, juicy roasted grapes paired perfectly with the cool, creamy cheese! We also loved La Escalivada🔥, a mix of roasted eggplant, peppers, and onions in olive oil, so flavorful we could eat it plain or with bread. 😋 The main courses had ups and downs… The grilled fish🐟 was okay, but the skin was slightly burnt and bitter. The Wagyu steak🥩, however, was a letdown! Cooked to the chef’s recommended medium-rare, it was unexpectedly tough—we chewed for what felt like 20 minutes, giving our jaw muscles a serious workout💪. Desserts saved the day! The affogato🍨☕️—vanilla ice cream drenched in espresso—was rich and bittersweet, hard to go wrong. But the tiramisu🍰 was disappointing: dense and heavy, with neither the cream nor the cake layer feeling light. In summary: full marks for appetizers, drinks, and affogato💯, but skip the Wagyu steak! Perfect for sharing small plates and enjoying Mediterranean vibes. 🌊🍋 #AnniversaryDinner #MediterraneanCuisine #AppetizerWin #MainCourseFail #FoodReview #FoodieLife #EscaRestaurant
