Meeting the Hatching Season of Little Sea Turtles 🐢

From September to November each year, the Pacific ridley sea turtles have their largest nesting season, with thousands of adult sea turtles coming to the west coast of Costa Rica to lay their eggs.🐶 We had planned to witness the spectacle of adult sea turtles arriving en masse on the beach to nest, but we just missed the last wave, which was a bit disappointing. However, to our delight, we learned from the volunteer organization AGLO that we could witness the process of hatchlings making their way to the sea. It felt like a window had been opened for us by fate! Haha! So, we excitedly drove there, despite the long journey and the extremely poor road conditions. We finally arrived at the beach town as it got dark. The town was quite pristine, and at night, there was no lighting at all from our hotel to the town center where the restaurants were. We relied on the backlight of our phones to make our way there in the dark.♨️ Costa Rica is a country that places great emphasis on the protection of wildlife and the preservation of its natural state. Due to the thousands of sea turtle eggs buried on the beach, entry is only permitted with the accompaniment of a guide to prevent disruption of the hatching environment. 😅 With the guide's permission, some hatchlings whose path to the sea was blocked by tree trunks could be transported by tourists to a place closer to the ocean. This gave us a rare opportunity to get up close and personal with the little sea turtles. Nature is truly charming!
