Michelin Exploration - One of the World's Best Restaurants 🌟
We celebrated a birthday with a meal at Restaurant Bougainville, located in Amsterdam's Dam Square. We didn't do any research beforehand, just thought it was delicious, and later discovered it's quite a renowned restaurant. 🍴The restaurant is on the third floor of Hotel TwentySeven, with an environment and service that are impeccable, creating a very cozy atmosphere. We ordered two 6-course menus, a half wine pairing, champagne, tea, and four oysters (two different flavors). The amuse-bouches served before the meal were quite tasty; I particularly enjoyed the tapioca and crab meat soup, which was very bouncy and incredibly fresh. 🍴The set courses were all good; as each dish was presented, the aroma wafted over while we listened to the descriptions, with an excellent combination of color, aroma, and taste. The most memorable dish was the veal; it had been a long time since I had such well-prepared meat, incredibly tender and juicy, absolutely delicious. The oysters and desserts were more average; the desserts were somewhat savory, and after so many courses, I was in the mood for a sweet, refreshing treat. 🍴What's interesting about this restaurant is that the wine pairing starts with the wine, without any introduction, and then after you've tasted it with the dish, they ask for your impressions and thoughts before finally introducing the wine. They do this to prevent diners from having preconceived notions about the wine and to allow them to experience it first-hand. I'm not a wine drinker, so I didn't opt for the wine pairing, but my partner found it quite innovative, and wine enthusiasts might want to give it a try. 💰440€ for two people #FrenchCuisine #MichelinRestaurantExploration #RestaurantRecommendation #HiddenGemRestaurant #Amsterdam #Netherlands
