Michelin Recommended Forest-Inspired Nordic Cuisine
🫧 Høst 🫧 💛First off, if you’re coming with a mindset of trying something new, you’ll find this restaurant quite interesting. But if you, like me, have an Asian palate, you might find the flavors quite unusual. 💛We visited Høst, a Michelin-recommended spot, on Christmas Day (it’s rare to find a restaurant open on Christmas) and opted for the 5-course meal plus two glasses of wine. The restaurant also surprised us with 3 additional dishes, leaving us quite full! The overall taste was on the heavy side, a bit too salty for my liking, and sometimes a surprise hit of acidity that required water to balance out each bite. 💛Every dish was quite novel, featuring many ingredients I’ve never tasted before – beetroot, celeriac, and various flowers and herbs whose names I don’t know. Most dishes were heavily seasoned with eye-catching sauces, which often overshadowed the natural flavors of the food. 💛The main course and dessert were quite impressive! The main course was fish with mushrooms and a leaf of greens, seasoned with chicken broth. You can ask the staff to go easy on the white sauce or add just a spoonful, otherwise, it might be too overwhelming and you won’t taste the freshness of the fish. The dessert was a frozen pear with something like a white chocolate snow cone, which sounds super sweet but was surprisingly refreshing and cut through the creaminess of the meal. 💛As for the space, some say it’s one of the most beautiful restaurants in the world, but I think that’s a bit of an overstatement. The environment is a mix of wood and greenery, which does create a cozy Nordic feel, but it’s actually quite similar to many London restaurants. The dress code was casual, making it feel more like a family bistro where people might gather for a weekend meal. The service was good; the staff explained each dish and checked if the flavors were to our liking. 🇩🇰 Dining Guide 👉 Average cost: 650 DKK 👉 Menu changes frequently 👉 Perfect for those wanting to ‘try something new’ with Nordic cuisine 👉 Reservations recommended as it’s often full 👉 Plenty of dishes, so you won’t leave hungry 👉 Flavors are on the heavy side, some might find it too salty or acidic 👉 There’s an additional 1% fee for card payments #100RestaurantExplorationProject #Michelin #MichelinRestaurant #MichelinDining #DenmarkTravel #Copenhagen #CopenhagenTravel #CopenhagenRestaurant #CopenhagenFood #CopenhagenFoodExploration #FoodExploration #Christmas #AtmosphericRestaurant
