Mombasa, Kenya | A Different Side of Africa 🌍

Originally flew here just for cheap flights, but after researching, realized the stunning beaches deserved way more time—sadly, we only had 1.5 days. (Note: This place is ideal for long stays! ⛱️) 🌟 Diani Beach 🏝️ Powdery white sand + crystal-clear turquoise water—even without sunlight! Missed opportunity: Only had one sunset here (perfect for post-safari chilling). Booked a snorkeling/dolphin tour for $90 for two (easy to bargain!). 🌟 Ali Barbour’s Cave Restaurant 🍷 Worth the hype! Romantic cave ambiance + free hotel pickup (though it’s far). Meal: Seafood platter + 2 beers = ¥400. Highlight: Crab meat pre-shelled by chefs—luxury service! 🌟 Wasini Island Snorkeling 🤿 Main goal: Dolphins… but saw ZERO. 🐬 (Biggest regret!) Snorkeling was okay—vibrant corals but not mind-blowing. Lunch saved the day: Added a ¥75 lobster to the included fish/crab feast. 🦞 Unexpected entertainment: Crew’s plastic bucket drum performance—pure talent! 😂 🌟 Transport & Local Scenes Journey: Airport → taxi → ferry → matatu (minibus) → tuk-tuk (2+ hours). Culture shock: Bustling ports with fruit stalls, Chinese-made goods, and chaotic charm. Extreme poverty contrasts: Outside resorts: Mud huts 🛖, ancient buses (felt like they’d crumble!), women balancing loads on their heads. Inside resorts: Pure luxury. #Mombasa #KenyaTravel #AfricaUnfiltered #BeachLife
