Most Popular Affordable Traditional French Restaurant in France

La Jacobine 59-61 Rue Saint-AndrĂ© des Arts, 75006 Paris An honest and objective review of my dining experience👇 🌈 Location: Very close to Notre-Dame Cathedral, just about a 13-minute walk. After the meal, you can explore nearby attractions while strolling along the Seine River—a perfect way to unwind. 🌈 Restaurant Size & Reservations: The place is quite small, and seating is tight. If you're dining with four or more people, make sure to reserve in advance. The staff said you need to keep calling in the morning—reservations in the afternoon or evening won’t work. Since we couldn’t get through by phone, we walked in and waited in line for about 40 minutes before getting a table. They close at 4 PM, but even at 3:30 PM, there was still a long queue outside—proof of its popularity! 🌈 How’s the Food? First off, the value is excellent—starter + main course + dessert for just €36, or starter + main or main + dessert for under €30. Starters: The foie gras and escargots were fantastic 👍, especially the foie gras—I absolutely loved it! 😍 Main Courses: The beef bourguignon tasted good, but it was saltier than any version I’ve had before. If even a Hunan native (used to bold flavors) finds it salty, it must be really salty. The duck leg with almonds was unexpectedly sweet. As someone from Hunan, I’m not a fan of sweetness in savory dishes, but this would probably suit Taiwanese and Shanghainese tastes. That said, the duck itself was excellent—tender and flavorful—just too sweet for my preference. Desserts: The tiramisu had chocolate in it, which made it overly sweet and a bit cloying after a few bites, but the flavor was still good. The lemon tart was decent. Overall, this restaurant is solid and worth a visit. No issues with service either—recommended! 👍 #Paris #ParisEats #ParisFood #WhatToEatInParis #ParisFoodie #TraditionalFrenchCuisine #ParisDining #ParisFoodGuide #ParisFoodExploration #ParisFoodAdventure
