MSC Europa|One Day in Messina 🇮🇹 Taormina Train Guide📍
The cruise docks at the port of Messina. The main attraction in Messina is the Messina Cathedral, but there’s also enough time to take a train to Taormina, the most beautiful town in Sicily. 📍 Messina (Sicily), Italy ⛵️ Port Address: Terminal Crociere Porto di Messina - Via Vittorio Emanuele, Messina ⏰ Cruise Arrival: 12:00 | Cruise Departure: 20:00 After lunch on the cruise, you can choose between two one-day tour options: 1️⃣ Take the train to Taormina. It’s just a 10-minute walk from the port to the train station. 2️⃣ Stroll around downtown Messina. The port is just one block away from the city center, making it very convenient. How to Take the Train from Messina to Taormina? ✅ Messina ↔ Taormina (40 min) 🎫 Tickets: Purchase round-trip train tickets from Messina to Taormina in advance on Omio or other platforms. The 1:20 PM train has been tested and confirmed to be feasible. 🚞 Train Station Transportation: 📍 Messina Centrale is very close to the cruise port, just a 10-minute walk. Seats are not assigned, so it’s first-come, first-served. The train takes 40 minutes to reach 📍 Taormina Giardini Station. 🚉 Taormina Giardini Station is at the foot of the mountain, while the town center is uphill. Do not attempt to walk up—it may look close on the map, but it’s actually a long hike, partly on unpaved and potentially dangerous paths. 🚌 There’s an Interbus stop right outside the station; just buy tickets onboard (€1.1 per person) to reach the town center. The same applies for the return trip. If it’s crowded, you might struggle to board, so allow plenty of time. Taxis are the most convenient option for going up and down the hill. 🏝️ Taormina Itinerary: 🔹 Messina Gate → Taormina Cathedral → Piazza IX Aprile → Belvedere di via Pirandello (scenic viewpoint overlooking the heart-shaped bay) → Ancient Greek Theatre (highest point in the town, €12/person). ✅ If staying in Messina, follow this route: 🔹 Main Cathedral → ⛲️ Fountain Square & Bell Tower → Museum → Hike up to ⛪️ Santuario di Montalto (panoramic view of Messina) → Stroll and dine along Via Garibaldi → Return to the ship. #HiddenGems #Italy #Mediterranean #MessinaGuide #OneDayInMessina #TaorminaGuide #OneDayInTaormina #CruiseShoreExcursions #CruiseTravel #EuropaGuide #Sicily
