The museum houses numerous artifacts excavated from ancient Rome, Greece, and Egypt, as well as many items from Pompeii. The first floor mainly features the Farnese Collection of sculptures, bronze statues, and reliefs. The second floor showcases mosaics and frescoes from Pompeii. The third floor has an atrium with entire frescoes, a sand table model of the Pompeii ruins, and related historical introductions. Currently, there is a special exhibition in collaboration with the Guangdong Museum and the Naples National Archaeological Museum, introducing the sculpture and wet fresco art forms of the Roman Empire, and the differences between ancient Greek and Roman myths. (During the exhibition, a girl remarked that ancient Roman mythology feels like a massive ancient fan fiction, which made a lot of sense.) There are four styles of wet frescoes, roughly categorized by period. The first style (Mosaic Style) imitates the look of gemstones, precious metals, and marble using stone materials, giving a luxurious feel with an emphasis on symmetry and geometric patterns. The second style (Architectural Style) uses perspective to create a sense of three-dimensional architecture and space on the walls. The third style ( Ornate Style) emphasizes flatness and decoration, usually depicting small paintings of flowers, animals, and mythological scenes. The fourth style (Composite Style) combines the second and third styles, presenting complex, perspectival, and ornate scenes and patterns, also known as the "Pompeian Baroque Style." #Naples #Italy
