Museum at Eldridge Street (1)π
A hidden gem in the Lower East Side. On the outside, it looks like an ordinary church in Chinatown, but once you step inside, it's truly eye - catching, especially the main sanctuary, which is really beautiful. ππΈ There aren't many tourists, so the visiting experience is great. The Museum at Eldridge Street is the first Orthodox synagogue established by Eastern European Jewish immigrants in the United States. It has only been renovated in recent years, and many important original pieces have been preserved. ππΈ The original pulpit, chandelier, floor, wooden benches, etc., although not made of rare materials, were still very expensive at the time, so they are still in good condition after a hundred years. The most special thing is the very un - Jewish rose window on the west side and the round window on the east side, which had to be redesigned due to missing records. ππΈ They face each other like the past and the present, echoing each other. #NewYork π½
