My Trip to Edinburgh: Finally Tasting Authentic Scottish Cuisine ๐
My dining experience in Edinburgh has been quite an adventure! After submitting my visa application, I was starving. I was really worried about trying a hyped-up restaurant and being disappointed, but I was desperate for some authentic Scottish food ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ. After much deliberation, I decided to give the popular Makars Mash Bar a try, and it turned out to be pretty good! Maybe it was just because I was so hungry after waiting in the cold wind for so long, haha. ๐ซI didn't make a reservation and just walked in to get a number. The first time I went, I overheard a few Chinese ladies outside saying, โHe said we have to wait for an hour and a half.โ My bodyguard and I turned around and left immediately. We walked around but couldn't find anything else that caught our eye, so we ended up going back to Mash to get a number. The host said they would text me when our table was ready, so we decided to explore the area a bit. But after wandering around in the cold for 40 minutes without receiving any text, we rushed back to ask. ๐ซThe host then took us downstairs and showed us at least three empty tables... Really? So we waited in the cold for nothing! My bodyguard and I each ordered a main course and an egg: โ๏ธ Slow-cooked beef shoulder โ๏ธ Slow-cooked lamb shank โ๏ธ Scotch eggs (I was really there for the eggs!) The sauces for the beef and lamb seemed identical, but the meats tasted different. We were fullโvery full. For non-big eaters, this amount of food is more than enough for two people. #UK #Scotland #ScottishFoodRecommendation #Edinburgh #EdinburghCuisine #ScotchEggs
