Napier | A Mini Travel Guide 🌿🍷

Napier is a key port city in Hawke's Bay on New Zealand’s North Island, with a population of around 57,000. A 5-hour drive from Auckland, it’s famous for its beautifully preserved 1930s architecture—but even more so for its world-class wineries 🍾 (a must-know for wine lovers!). This Easter, I visited and was instantly charmed by the city’s Art Deco vibes—every corner is Instagram-worthy! 📸✨ The compact city center is perfect for strolling, shopping, and snapping pics. For a unique experience, you can book a vintage car tour online 🚗💨 or rent a bike (single or tandem! 🚲) to pedal your way to the wineries—great for sunny days with wine and views. Some Not-So-Tips Tips: ✨ National Aquarium of New Zealand 🐠🐧 It claims to house NZ’s largest collection of aquatic life and native wildlife (needs fact-checking 😆). We went spontaneously and missed the animal feeding sessions—check schedules online if you want to participate! The highlight? After nearly 10 years in NZ, I finally saw a KIWI BIRD 🥝🐦… better late than never, right? 😂 ✨ Wineries 🍇 This time, I only visited Craggy Range—great wine, stunning scenery. But Easter crowds ruined my dining plans 🥲 (Pro tip: Book restaurant seats in advance for holidays!). If you buy wine, the tasting fee is waived—good deal! Their award-winning restaurant is on my list for next time. 🏆 P.S. Some wineries offer accommodation too—check it out! ✨ L&P Pit Stop 🥤🍦 On the drive from Auckland, you’ll pass the iconic giant L&P bottle! 🏍️💨 Don’t miss their L&P-flavored ice cream (a must for "L&P lovers"). The food? No idea—didn’t try it, so no blind recommendations here 😅. But you can stock up on all kinds of L&P sodas! #Napier #NewZealand #WineLover #ArtDeco #TravelNZ #EscapeTheOrdinary ✈️🌿
