Nepal|Pokhara: What to Do & Eat Without Trekking
🏔️ Pokhara This small town nestled by the Himalayas is a sacred spot in every traveler’s heart. After descending from the ABC trail, it’s the perfect place to spend a day or two relaxing. Here are my recommendations based on research and personal experience: 【What to Do】 🌟 Phewa Lake Paddleboarding/Kayaking Navigation: Kayak Shack - by Paddle Nepal 500 rupees/hour (can bargain down to 400), same price for kayaks. 5:30 PM is ideal for watching the sunset. Winds pick up after sunset—we drifted smoothly to the opposite shore with the wind, but fighting the (headwind) back was tough. It took us a lot of effort to reach the shore from the center of the lake by 7 PM. My friend, who was in a kayak, later shared their thoughts: staring at the dark lake water felt scary, and with me making up stories about lake monsters, when the wind was so strong the boat spun in circles, it felt like we’d forged a "life-or-death bond." 🌟 Singing Bowl Experience Navigation: Nirvana Singingbowl The 9:15 AM session has few people; the 4 PM afternoon session reportedly requires arriving 1 hour early. The teacher leads the chants and joked that morning students are diligent chanters, while afternoon ones mostly come to sleep—haha. 🌟 Tranquility Spa A massage is a must after trekking. This is Pokhara’s most upscale spa, and it lives up to the hype. Book in advance! 2-hour Ayurvedic oil therapy for 6500 rupees. 🌟 Pokhara Disneyland We read about it but didn’t go—the ultra-fast Ferris wheel looked like it’d make us nauseous. 🌟 Night Puja Location: Barahi Ghat Starts after 5:30 PM. We skipped it since it didn’t interest us, but those who like such things might enjoy it. 【What to Eat】 🌟 Western Food: Location: 360 SKY LOUNGE Butter crab, chicken wings, pizza. 🌟 Korean Food: Location: Sanchon Korean Restaurant Run by Koreans, very authentic. Korean BBQ, chicken wings, and soybean paste soup—everything is delicious. 🌟 Barbecue: Location: Sunita & Bimal Restro A husband-and-wife spot. The beef is a bit tough, but the pork belly is amazing. 🌟 Nepali Food, Lakeside Restaurant: Location: Utopia Garden & Snacks Bar Highly recommend: lamb), grilled fish, garlic naan. 🌟 Chinese Food: We stopped by Peace Restaurant while exchanging money. As someone with a "Chinese stomach," it’s hard not to be picky about Sichuan food—it was decent but not exceptional, though the exchange rate was great Location: Swallow Chinese Restaurant #LesserKnownGems #OffbeatCountryTrips #UniqueTravelExperiences #Pokhara #PokharaTravel #PokharaFood #Nepal #NepalTravel #SoloFemaleTravel #VacationSpots
