New Mexico|Valley of Fires 🔥🌵

On the way from Albuquerque to White Sands National Park, we spotted a sign that said “Valley of Fires.” It looked like it could be a campsite 🏕️ or maybe a real attraction—and since we had some extra time, we decided to take a quick detour. At first, I thought it might be like Nevada’s Valley of Fire State Park with its famous red rocks 🪨… but I was completely wrong! Turns out, this place is called Valley of Fires not because of rock colors, but because it was literally once flowed with fire—it’s an ancient lava flow zone! The black volcanic rock still shows clear wrinkles and waves, tracing the paths where molten lava once moved. 🌋 The whole area is covered in dark, dramatic rock formations, now dotted with hardy desert plants 🌵✨. There are signs warning about rattlesnakes 🐍, but if you stay on the marked trail, you should be fine! There’s also an overlook nearby. At first glance, it just looks like empty desert, but after reading the info panel, we learned that in the distance lies the Trinity test site—where the world’s first atomic bomb was detonated 💥. It’s said the extreme heat turned the desert sand into glass. We didn’t stay long, but it was such a cool and unexpected find along the road! 🚗💨 #SummerFoodie #DesertOasis #VastDesert #NewMexico #NewMexicoTravel #RoadTrip #USRoadTrip #LifeInNorthAmerica
