New York's "Towers of Light" | A Tribute to 9/11 π
On the night of September 11, 2001, I was at home in Shanghai when I turned on CNN. π’π On the screen was one of the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York, billowing smoke. Moments later, the other tower was hit. On TV, thick smoke rolled, people fell from the burning buildings, and then, one after another, the two tall towers collapsed. πAt that moment, I could hardly believe my eyes - this was not a movie, but a real - life hellish scene unfolding in the world. Years later, when I stood in front of the pit at Ground Zero in New York, looking at the rushing water and touching the walls inscribed with the names of the victims, with white roses stuck beside them, my eyes became moist. π’π On the benches in Central Park, I saw plaques commemorating the deceased; in the corners of high - rise buildings and small parks, such plaques and monuments were everywhere. π When my New York friends mentioned that day, they were always filled with sorrow, yet at a loss for words. π’πOn this day, I want to say more: cherish peace, cherish the present. #EveryCityHasItsOwnStory #NewYork ππ
