New York's East Village Speakeasy Bar | Hard to Explain ๐ธ
After seeing a post about the female bartender on xhs, I went there with high hopes, only to find out it was a guy... But as the saying goes, โWeโre here, weโre queer, and weโre not leaving.โ ๐ The bar is tiny, with a counter that wraps around the bar area. The bartender has limited space to work with, so he was constantly moving around all night, making it look like a dance. ๐บ Heart to Explain ๐๐ I started with a drink that was both sour and bitter. It was the epitome of โHard to Explain.โ After taking a few sips, I had to tell the bartender it wasnโt working for me. He quickly and warmly swapped it out for another drink. Kudos to him! ๐ Express X ๐๐๐๐ A sweet lychee-flavored drink with a twist of herbal notes. Itโs visually appealing and delicious without being one-dimensional. ๐ Cameron Obscura ๐๐๐๐๐ This drink is apparently quite popular. The elderflower sweetness combined with lemon juice is sweet but not cloying, and the effervescence adds a nice touch. Itโs a big step up from the first drink. ๐ Overall, the drinks didnโt blow me away, but the bartender was super enthusiastic and attentive. Spending an evening here with friends or family in this Japanese-inspired bar could definitely make for a lovely night. ๐ #NewYorkBars #NewYorkBarRecommendations ๐๐ฟ
