New York's East Village Taiwan Flavors | 886 š
The name of the place is 886, located at 26 St Marks Pl. As soon as you step in, you're greeted by a stylishly decorated tavern that exudes a unique vibe. It specializes in street snacks, and the attention to detail is evident in the stickers on the walls, each featuring the 886 logo. ššø There's also a whole wall dedicated to instant photos, adding a personal touch. šø I tried the iconic Taiwanese snack, Grilled Sausage Wrapped in Rice Cake, for the first time. The Taiwanese sausage has a crispy exterior from the grill, and the sticky rice cake is soft and chewy. Topped with pickled cabbage, cucumber, and cilantro, the combination of textures is delightful, though it's a bit on the salty side. š The Stir-Fried Bean Sprouts with Dried Tofu Skin were brought to the table wafting a delicious aroma that immediately opened up my appetite. The bean sprouts were incredibly tender. š² ššø The Braised Pork Rice! It tasted just like the one I remembered from Taiwan. I mixed it all together and dug in with big bites. š± The Three-Cup Chicken was served hot and needed to be heated for another five minutes before uncovering. My only suggestion is to pair it with a bowl of white rice. The sauce alone is so satisfying when mixed with rice. š #NewYorkFood #NewYork #NewYorkLife š½š
