New York's Favorite Southeast Asian Cuisine 🔥

📍 Kopitiam, 151 E Broadway Here are the dishes we always order: ⭐️ Fried Kway Teow Highly recommended! It has that perfect wok hei—stir-fried over high heat until it’s aromatic and flavorful the moment it hits the table. This dish is probably the best in Manhattan. Compared to the highest level in Singapore, the main difference is that the noodles should be wider, and the cockles can’t quite match the freshness of those in Singapore, but it’s still amazing. 🍳 🦑 Sotong Goreng Malaysian fried squid tentacles—delicious! 🦑 🦪 Oh Chien (Oyster Omelette) Very chewy and bouncy! Last time it was perfect, but this time it was a bit on the salty side. 🦪 🥬 Malay Stir-Fried Water Spinach A southern favorite (though the portion is much smaller than in West Malaysia). We always go for the sambal version, but if you’re not into shrimp paste, you can try the garlic version. My northern friend finds it a bit greasy, though. 🥬 🐟 Otak Otak A kind of “fish cake” wrapped in banana leaf, spicy and delicious. 🐟 🐔 Hainanese Chicken Rice A tasty Malacca-style chicken rice. We recently tried another place, Lou Yau Kee, which offers a Singapore-style version and it was pretty good too. 🍖 #NewYork #SoutheastAsianCuisine #MustTry 🌇🌟
