New York's omakaseđŁ special for survival fried to tears of happines
đŁ Tuna, salmon toro, yellowtail, uni, grilled eel, wagyu with foie gras and truffleâevery time I come, I eat like Iâm making up for lost time, and itâs so satisfying. Maybe itâs âdisrespectfulâ omakase in some peopleâs eyes, but when Iâm hungry, this hits differently. The moment the fat melts in my mouth and happiness shoots to the top of my head, itâs like I forget everything that happened during the day. Suddenly, Iâm ready to take on the world again đ Another reason I keep coming back? Itâs one of the rare omakase spots where both Lao Wang and I leave happy. Whether youâre a fish lover or a meat fan, thereâs something here for youâwe each get our own little food paradise. Theyâve got a few menu options. When weâre not starving, we go for the 14-course ($88) or 15-course ($100). But most days, we pick the 19-course for $150âit comes with extra appetizers and a three-piece A5 wagyu tasting, which is totally worth it. A few of my personal faves: The scallops are plump and juicy, and the squid is sliced with impeccable knife skills đđ»đđ»đđ» The Hokkaido uni hand roll is chefâs kiss! They pile on so much uniâcool, creamy uni on warm rice with crispy nori? Pure comfort in a bite. đ The baby yellowtail and salmon toro with foie gras dishes? Thatâs when the âfatty happinessâ really kicks off. How can fish taste this good?! đ„ The chutoro and otoro are almost too pretty to eatâlightly seared, fragrant, and not a hint of greasiness. And yes, the âdisrespectfulâ eel and foie gras hand roll? Itâs sizzling and oozing oil (and a little hot, so be careful!), but so worth the burn. đ” They switched up the dessert this timeâmatcha tiramisu! I told myself Iâd only have one bite⊠but I couldnât stop. Rich matcha mascarpone thatâs icy cold, topped with a thick dusting of matcha powder. Way better than regular tiramisu, and yepâI definitely overate. No regrets, though lol The chef who made our meal this time is Ryanâsuper cute and chatty, total extrovert energy. He switches between Chinese and English seamlessly, chatting with us and the foreigners next to us like weâre old friends. When he heard I like posting food reviews, he asked if I could help spread the wordâof course! Hope this place stays around forever đđ» My forever late-night comfort spot.
