New York | A Beautiful Meal at a Nordic Michelin Star 🕊️🍾
📍 Aquavit NYC This was a birthday treat for my decade-long best friend, a beautiful meal chosen after much deliberation. We were extremely satisfied with both the dishes and the service (this year’s newly published Michelin Guide, they didn’t lose any stars, either! The quality is very consistent. ✨1 - Scallop & King Crab Skagen Scallops are my favorite among seafood, the fatter the better. The addition of caramelized onions and bacon bits made the texture even richer. It truly amazed me. The other dish, King Crab, was also very good, without any fishy smell. ✨2 - Waygu Short Rib & King Salmon The salmon was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I wanted to learn how it was made right there. However, eating a whole piece was a bit greasy. The Waygu was overall on the sour side, not bad but a bit strange. It seems I can’t rely on Nordic restaurants to make good wagyu. ✨3 - Arctic Bird Nest & Port Wine Cake The Bird Nest was like a piece of art, simply stunning. The main ingredients were white chocolate ice cream with berries, but I was willing to pay for its beauty. The Port Wine Cake was just okay, with a strong cinnamon flavor. ✅The restaurant also sent us a birthday cake, a Princess Cake, which was super cute and perfect for photos. The green exterior had an almond flavor, but neither of us was used to the taste. ✅The average price per person was $200🔪 P.S. If you don’t have a high alcohol tolerance, be cautious with their Aquavit. It’s a strong liquor of 40-50 degrees. If you really want to try, just order a regular cocktail, not a Martini, otherwise, it will burn your stomach. My stomach was still uncomfortable the next day. #100RestaurantChallenge #NewYork #NewYorkFood #MichelinRestaurant #MichelinTwoStar #NewYorkRestaurants #NordicCuisine
