New York | Beware of Greek Food Near Central Park (1)π
Central Park is indeed a food desert when it comes to good eats. π’π Restaurant Name: ElΓ©a Address: 217 W 85th St, New York, NY 10024 π Quick Review: Overly salty Average Cost: $80 Food Rating: πππβ¨ Most dishes come with π feta cheese, which is a nightmare for someone like me who can't stand it. But if you love feta, you'll be in heaven. Just something to keep in mind when ordering. π’π Pita + Dips: πSince I was dining alone and didn't have much of an appetite, I ordered pita bread with five different dips. It's a carb-lover's dream and also quite healthy. It's a safe choice, but it doesn't stand out. (Some Mediterranean restaurants offer pita as a free appetizer, but here it's a paid item. π’π The pita here feels like a genetic copy of another restaurant's, and I couldn't help but compare the two.) πThe eggplant dip was a bit undercooked, with a strong, raw eggplant flavor. The other dips were average, nothing special, but standard. The almond and nutty flavors did add a bit of texture. The mullet caviar dip tasted like nothing but salt. π’π Appetizer Bread: If you dislike hard bread, you can skip this. And this place is very traditional Greek, offering only olive oil for dipping bread. The olive oil is right there on the table. π #NewYork π
