New York | Festive Gingerbread House Exhibition
Finally checked off the Museum of the City of New York from my bucket list! I originally came for the gift shop ๐, but was pleasantly surprised to catch the Christmas festive gingerbread house exhibition (the exhibition runs until January 12, 2025)~ Skilled pastry chefs have recreated New Yorkโs landmark buildings and iconic objects as gingerbread houses~ Every detail is filled with ingenuity, and I was charmed by all the cute little designs~ The room is filled with a sweet aroma~ After viewing, you can even vote for your favorite creation~ ๐ The staircase and lighting decorations between the first and second floors are absolutely beautiful, and are reportedly the most photographed spot in the museum I also highly recommend the 28-minute New York history introduction short film on the lower level (G floor) As well as the immersive exhibition on the third floor (New York-related film clips) <You are here>๐ The former provides an in-depth and comprehensive understanding of New Yorkโs development history, while the latter shows you clips of New York in film and television. About <You are here>: โNew York is one of the most filmed cities in the world. <You are here> draws on a rich archive of films set in New York, merging thousands of film moments across 16 screens. Through a dazzling montage of connections and contrasts, the films comment on each other across time and space. They collectively offer new perspectives on the various New Yorks of our collective imagination.โ Very, very interesting.๐ Museum of the City of New York๐ Tickets: $23 for adults, free for under 18s New York residents Pay What You Can Free for everyone every Wednesday PS: I got in for free again with my IDNYC!
