New York | Hidden Gem Restaurants Series No.1 🌟
📍 Y&Z Dumpling House (Harbin Restaurant) As a die-hard fan of Northeastern Chinese cuisine, I’ve sampled many Northeastern restaurants across the US! I used to think the best guobaorou (sweet and sour pork) was at Wangji Tieguo Stew in Flushing, and then I tried the version at Boston’s Gouchi Restaurant which was super fragrant. But this Harbin Restaurant’s guobaorou is truly divine! 🌟 🌿🌟 This guobaorou is made the old-fashioned way. When you get close, the aroma is so strong it’s almost overwhelming – that’s how flavorful it is! The batter is perfectly crispy, making a satisfying crunch with every bite. It’s so, so delicious!! It’s absolutely worth the trip to Long Island just for this dish! 🥹 Apart from the guobaorou, the other dishes are also excellent. The stir-fried green peppers with dried tofu are sticky and super fragrant. 🌿🌟The braised lamb is flavorful and perfect for scooping up with rice. The red-braised pork with vermicelli has that nostalgic childhood taste, though the pork could be a bit more tender. For all the TikTok food refugees out there, head to Y&Z Dumpling House in Long Island for the most authentic Northeastern Chinese food in NY! 🌿🌟The double-cooked pork slices with sweet and sour sauce won’t disappoint. Trust me, it’s SO GOOD! 🤤 #guobaorou #NortheasternChineseCuisine #NYCfood #NYCChineseFood 🌃🌟
