Pork Kakuni $12 Japanese braised pork belly, a dish I always order whenever I see it at an izakaya. ππΊ The pork belly has a good balance of fat and lean meat but is overall on the leaner side. The fat is completely tender and melts in your mouth. It's aromatic without being greasy. There are also some rib pieces that are stewed until they're soft and succulent. ππ The seasoning is on the lighter side; the sauce isn't very sweet or thick, and it doesn't cling to the meat. It's not greasy, but it's not the best I've ever had. Assorted Oden $10 ππΊ I highly do not recommend the oden. The broth is flavorless, and the ingredients are quite monotonous. The eggs are completely tasteless. The daikon is thinly sliced but not fully cooked through. The tofu pouches are okay; they're filled with mochi, which is a ready-made ingredient. Agedashi Tofu $8 ππ Deep-fried tofu, served with grated daikon radish, bonito flakes, and dashi broth. The tofu has a crispy exterior and a soft, tender interior. The flavors are quite authentic. Takowasa $7 Octopus with wasabi, a great little dish to enjoy with drinks. ππ #GreatPlaceforJapaneseCuisineandDrinksinNewYork#NewYorkFood#NewYorkLife ππ
