New York | Neue Galerie(1)
โจNeue Galerie & Cafe Sabarsky This is the place to take a break and escape when you're in the US but missing Europe. ๐๐ธ It's a museum dedicated to early 20th-century German and Austrian art and design, with many works by Klimt and Schiele. Klimt's masterpiece from his golden phase, "The Golden Woman," is housed here! You have to see it with your own eyes to realize how charming and dazzling this painting is. ๐๐ธ (The original is not allowed to be photographed; what I took a picture of was the replica on the lower level designated for audience group photos.) Neue Galerie (German for New Gallery), was co-founded by New Yorker Ronald S Lauder, a former US Ambassador to Austria, and Serge Sabarsky, a Viennese immigrant and art collector. ๐๐ธBoth of them had a fondness for Klimt and Schiele since their youth. After meeting, they hit it off and maintained a friendship spanning over twenty years, eventually establishing this museum. #NewYork ๐๐
