New York | Shukette: Delicious, But No Need to Overhype 🌟
Shukette, the new Mediterranean spot in town, has been packed since it opened. Getting a reservation is no easy feat! As a Mediterranean food enthusiast, I couldn’t resist trying it out with a curious palate. 🌿 🌟First things first, the food is good. The Frena, in particular, might just be the best bread of its kind I’ve had in New York. The dips are also solid; the labneh has a rich and unique texture. However, the “not your average hummus” felt a bit... average to me. There are plenty of Mediterranean spots in New York that do hummus even better. 🥬 The vegetables here are truly standout. I highly recommend the cauliflower and, for those who love tangy flavors, the broccolini. 🌿 🌟For the meat, I tried the Joojeh Chicken. It was... okay? The sauce was a highlight, but some parts of the chicken were a bit dry—not very juicy. It’s edible, but don’t set your expectations too high. 🍗 Lastly, the tahini soft serve. This one is quite an acquired taste. The combination of tahini’s slightly bitter sesame flavor with almond milk and halve is quite unique. It’s definitely something you should try once, but it might not be for everyone. 🍦 🌟 PS: If you can’t get a reservation, showing up early for a walk-in works too, especially on weekdays. You might just have to wait a bit, but it’s worth it! 🕒 #RomanticLifeRecorder #NewYorkLife 🌆
