New York | Super Disappointed 😥
Le Veau d'Or An Upper East Side classic French restaurant 🇫🇷 that opened in 1937. Dinner reservations are nearly impossible to get. But the actual experience? Just too ordinary. So disappointing. 📝 Set Menu 135🔪: 1 appetizer + 1 main course + 1 dessert 🥔 Pommes Soufflées Caviar Rouge à la Crème A popular appetizer. The potato chips are crispy and delicious – just normal yummy. 🍟 🐌 Escargots Provençale The best dish of the night. The snails are very bouncy. I loved the herb sauce on top, but my partner said the tomatoes underneath are the real star. 🐌 🦆 Duck Magret aux Cerises According to the waiter, this dish and the lamb leg are the two signature dishes since the restaurant opened. The duck breast is tender – not bad, but no big surprises. 🦆 🥩 Les Délices “Veau d’Or” Sauce Moutarde (Offal Platter) So many people on Xiaohongshu (Red) recommended it, but it was really bad ❌. The veal thymus was the best, but still just okay. The beef liver had a strong gamey flavor, either poorly handled or just low-quality ingredients. The beef heart was even worse – very gamey and rough in texture. The offal dishes are way behind Le Coucou, not to mention compared to those in Europe. #NewYork 🌃
