New York | Sushi Sho | Long Time No See ☺️
Today, I’m not talking about the food, but about serendipity. 🎢 Four years ago in Hawaii at Sushi Sho, I took the first photo. It was a typical Honolulu evening breeze, walking past the pool filled with sunset hues, and heading downstairs with you for a long-awaited dinner. We left satisfied, slightly tipsy (maybe even drunk), and I vaguely remember the young chef’s fresh face in the background. 🌸Four years later, Sushi Sho opened in New York, and the young chef in front of me looked very familiar. During a break before Okonomi, I pulled out that photo and showed it to him. “Is this you?” “Ah, I’m so embarrassed!!” The former apprentice had taken that small step forward, stepping into the spotlight and becoming Chef K. “Living in Hawaii was so boring; there wasn’t much to do. New York is full of things to do! And so many bars!” Ah... 🌊 Brother K, I hope you enjoy your drinks in New York, keep climbing the ladder, and open your own place soon (but be careful with excessive drinking—it can really hold you back!). I had several dishes that felt like old friends from four years ago. 🥹🥹 Okonomi filled the slight void of the short menu—it was quite interesting! Lately, life really needs some fleeting adult joys, and I ended up drinking a bit too much again. 🍃 The final bottle, a limited collaboration from New Policy, the Invisible Pink Unicorn, was truly dreamy. 😚😚 🌟I guess I’ll never escape the pit of limited editions and special releases in this lifetime... #NewYork 🌇
